For 2018, a number of enhancements have been made, perhaps the most significant of which is the addition of two new available Ingenium gas four-cylinder engines which replace the previous single output GTDi gas engine. A 237 hp Ingenium gas engine paired to a ZF>® 9-speed automatic transmission generates 251 lb.-ft. of torque and is standard in all body styles of the Range Rover Evoque. A higher output 286 hp Ingenium gas engine, available with 5-Door HSE Dynamic and Autobiography trims only, generates 295 lb.-ft. of torque, helping to accelerate the Evoque from 0-60mph in 6.0 seconds (0-62mph in 6.3 seconds) and on to a top speed of 144mph.1

Customers who choose the higher-powered Ingenium gas powertrain in five-door models will receive the Dynamic exterior pack, comprising enlarged front and rear bumpers, Gloss Black finishes for the grille, vents and 20-inch five split-spoke alloy wheels.

The 2018 model year also marks the introduction of a special “Landmark Edition” Evoque. Positioned between the SE Premium and HSE trims, and available exclusively as a 5-Door model mated to the 237 hp version of the new Ingenium gas engine, the Landmark Edition offers standout styling and a strong value.

Buyers will have their choice of three colors on Landmark Edition vehicles: Yulong White, Corris Grey, and a new color exclusive to the Landmark Edition, Moraine Blue. Outside, each vehicle sits on unique 19-inch 7 split-spoke “Style 707” alloy wheels with Gloss Dark Grey finish and features a Carpathian Grey Contrast Roof and a Dynamic body kit that includes a Graphite Atlas finish on the fender vents and hood vents, grille and grille surround and special Graphite Atlas scripting on the hood and tailgate.

Inside, seats are finished with Ebony perforated grained leather with Lunar contrast stitching, and Ebony headliner and a Dark Satin brushed aluminum trim finisher.

To give customers clearer choice, the color palette has been revised as well to include 13 available options for 2018. Colors include the Core Palette: Fuji White and Narvik Black; the Metallic Palette: Yulong White, Indus Silver, Corris Grey, Santorini Black, Loire Blue, Firenze Red and Kaikoura Stone; the Premium Palette: Silicon Silver and Carpathian Grey. Phoenix Orange becomes a unique color to the Range Rover Evoque Convertible.

INGENIUM GAS ENGINES IN DETAIL

Designed, engineered and built in-house by Jaguar Land Rover the new family of Ingenium engines uses the company’s low friction all-aluminum-intensive design which provides excellent thermal properties and lightweight construction, improving efficiency and enhancing vehicle dynamics over traditional steel designs. Technologies include an integrated exhaust manifold, 2,000 bar direct injection system and twin-scroll turbocharger for responsiveness and optimal power delivery.3

The engines feature electrohydraulic control of the inlet valves. This cutting-edge technology enables variable valve lift, so load control is managed primarily by the intake valves rather than the throttle. This reduces pumping losses and provides unmatched flexibility and control over airflow into the combustion chambers, improving power and torque while reducing emissions.

In addition, a new 2,000 bar direct injection system, which features centrally mounted injectors with an optimized spray pattern helps improve fuel combustion, further improves power delivery and reduces emissions.

In a first for Jaguar Land Rover, the exhaust manifold on the new 2.0-liter gas Ingenium four-cylinder is also integrated with the cylinder head casting. Passing coolant through the manifold considerably reduces warm-up times, when engines are at their least efficient, improving fuel consumption and reducing emissions.3

The powerful 286 hp Si4 Ingenium gas engine replaces traditional journal bearings in favor of turbo ball bearing cartridges which provide significant performance improvements to the turbocharger, including transient response and better efficiency.
