Permanent Four-wheel Drive
Range Rover Sport offers the legendary performance of Land Rover´s permanent four-wheel-drive system. Permanent four-wheel drive ensures power is continuously sent to all four wheels, whether on-road or off-, so Range Rover Sport remains surefooted.
Terrain Response
No matter what the conditions, Range Rover Sport is always in its element, thanks to the amazing engineering of Land Rover´s acclaimed Terrain Response.™
·  A center console flush-mounted dial allows you to select one of five terrain types: general, grass/gravel/snow, mud and ruts, sand, and rock crawl.
·  As you select your terrain, the always active, continuously monitoring system optimizes the vehicle´s traction and dynamic systems for the particular road surface.
·  Terrain Response ensures that all unique road conditions are successfully managed with minimum driver input.
4-wheel Electronic Traction Control
Using ABS sensors, 4-wheel Electronic Traction Control (4ETC) detects wheelspin and applies the brake on the individual spinning wheel.
·  It also restricts engine power to help gain more traction.
·  With 4ETC, Range Rover Sport is able to continue moving, even when only one wheel has traction.
Electronic Air Suspension
Range Rover Sport´s sophisticated Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) with adjustable ride-height control optimizes ride height by adjusting each air spring according to load distribution and terrain.
·  When in off-road mode, the EAS will rise 2.17 inches over standard ride height, increasing clearance over obstacles
·  Helping negotiate off-road trails, terrain-sensing software opens cross-link valves connecting the air springs to increase a tire´s ability to remain in contact with the ground and maintain traction
·  If the vehicle becomes grounded on an obstacle with EAS in off-road mode, the system will automatically sense this and attempt to give a little extra ground clearance
Hill Descent Control
Hill Descent Control (HDC) helps control your speed as you travel on steep descents.
·  Engage HDC and release the throttle and the Range Rover Sport will automatically limit vehicle speed (vehicle must be traveling at less than 12.5 miles per hour for HDC to engage).
·  Programmable for different HDC speeds.
·  Even when your vehicle is backing down a steep hill, HDC maintains slow-speed descent, allowing you to concentrate on steering.
Six-speed Automatic Transmission
Range Rover Sport features a sophisticated six-speed automatic transmission that seamlessly distributes power full-time to all four wheels.
·  For superior off-road protection, the gearbox casing is especially stiff, and the gearbox´s electronic control unit is housed in a strong plastic-molded sump for superior shielding.
·  The transmission is equipped with an electronically controlled transfer gearbox that can be shifted into low range for difficult off-road conditions, essentially providing you with a 12-gear vehicle.
Center and Rear Electronic Locking Differentials
An electronically controlled, fully active center locking differential and an available electronically controlled rear locking differential give you a fully variable, real-time torque management system.

The system can determine where best to distribute torque without any driver input, which is especially important when driving off-road.
Ground Clearance
Keeping clear of obstacles in your path is an easy task, thanks to the Range Rover Sport´s impressive off-road ground clearance specifications (with the EAS in "off-road" mode):
·  8.9 inches of ground clearance
·  34-degree angle of approach
·  29-degree departure angle and 25-degree breakover angle
