DRIVE AROUND THE WORLD

LAND ROVER CONTINUES SUPPORT OF DRIVE AROUND THE WORLD'S UNPRECEDENTED ADVENTURE

On Nov.1, 2003, a team of adventurers set out on an unprecedented global philanthropic adventure, The Drive Around the World LONGITUDE Expedition, driving four 2003 Certified Pre-Owned Land Rover Discovery vehicles through 34 countries and covering 32,000 miles.  The aim of this journey is to benefit Parkinson's disease research and to promote geography and scientific research projects among school children.

Visiting Parkinson's research centers along the way, the team hopes their efforts encourage those battling the disease and inspires others to learn more about how they can help make a difference in the fight against Parkinson's.  Another objective of the LONGITUDE   Expedition is educating students via their interactive website, www.drivearoundtheworld.com/education/.  By accessing the site, students are able to connect with the team and ask questions as they make their way around the world.  Students have sent more than 3,500 travel/geography questions and the team has answered each one.

The Drive Around the World LONGITUDE Expedition is another "perfect-fit" expedition for Land Rover.  For this reason, Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) is the official vehicle sponsor of the LONGITUDE Expedition.  The standard 2003 CPO Discovery vehicles have been fitted with a heavy-duty roof rack that will carry extra fuel, water and serve as homes thanks to the pop-up tent sleeping accommodations.

Nearing the end of the road, the team is expected to return to San Francisco, where the Expedition began, before the holiday season.  Having driven through North and South America, Australia, and Southeast Asia, the duration of the Expedition will include driving through China, Myanmar, India, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Russia, and back into the states by way of Alaska.
